The Upcoming 007 Game 007 First Light Faces a Delay, Now Arriving in Late Spring 2026.
The Development Studio
The arrival of the eagerly awaited James Bond video game, titled 007 First Light, has been pushed back to 27 May 2026.
Originally slated for a 27 March release, the title is now set to arrive approximately two months later its initial date.
A Long-Awaited Comeback for 007
This project represents the first video game starring the famous British spy since 2012's 007 Legends, ending a lengthy hiatus for the character in the gaming world.
"Our project is entirely complete from start to finish," stated studio IO Interactive. "But, we are taking this further window to further polish and guarantee it satisfies the high expectations of our players."
Production Details and Story Elements
The game is being crafted alongside Delphi Interactive, a studio that is developing another high-profile title.
Patrick Gibson, star of Dexter: Original Sin, will portray a 26-year-old James Bond in what is touted as a new look at the early days.
The narrative details Bond as he is recruited into MI6 and secures his coveted 00 status, presenting a standalone story independent of the films or books.
Notable Cast and Mechanics Reveals
Boosting the star power, American musician Lenny Kravitz was announced as the game's primary antagonist.
Early teaser footage have demonstrated some similarities with IO Interactive's popular Hitman franchise, while also featuring the expected gadgets and spectacular moments expected from Bond.
That said, comments from viewers on these trailers expressed concerns over how the game looked, pointing out frame rate drops and excessive motion blur.
An Ambitious Project
IO Interactive has labeled 007 First Light its "biggest project to date."
"We believe this positions 007 First Light up for enduring popularity," the studio continued. "We are grateful for the understanding and ongoing enthusiasm we've received."
